Hello all.

As a newly registered member of the site, please forgive my indulging in a topic I'm very passionate about.

My grandfather played some games for the old New Town club, which of course later merged with Glenorchy in 1957.

2005 marks the 70 th anniversary of New Town's first premiership, under the great Roy Cazaly. I have some old photos and badges from that era and am currently researching the club's history with the modest aim of writing an article about that premiership year and the role of football in Hobart society at that time.

I currently live in Brisbane but plan to do some research and interviews when I visit Hobart in a few months time. I am very keen to hear from anyone in the meantime who can provide me with any names, source material (books, profiles, articles), etc that might assist me in this task. Perhaps its a long shot, but someone may even know someone still alive who remembers seeing New Town play during that era.

Any info will be gratefully received.

Mate, check out the book 'Magpie Memories' it has a lot of info on the Newtown days, I am sure if you checked out the club they may even be able to help.

My dad's uncle also played with Newtown, which is how my family got involved in supporting the club.
